From BGSU PLANETARIUM<\/p>\n

The BGSU Planetarium announced its fall schedule featuring three shows new to the public, an array of youth-focused shows, holiday shows and stargazing Sept. 3-Dec. 13.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnimals of the Sky\u201d kicks off the season on Sept. 3 at 6:30 p.m. with repeat showtimes at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, and at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 13, 20 and 27. The show, geared at younger audiences, tells the story of a girl named Delphia as she meets some of the animal constellations of the sky.<\/p>\n

September will also include one of the new public shows, \u201c5000 Eyes: Mapping the University with DESI,\u201d about the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), which has been compiling the most detailed map to date of galaxies and large-scale structures in the nearby universe. The show will premiere Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m., with additional shows on Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m. and shows at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 13, 20 and 27.<\/p>\n

October shows are \u201cDark Side of Light\u201d on Oct. 1 and 8 at 6:30 p.m. and Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and. \u201cCosmic Recipe: Setting the Periodic Table\u201d for younger audiences on Oct. 11 and 18 at 4:30 p.m. and Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. \u201cDark Side of Light\u201d is about how artificial light affects our ability to observe the night sky and how it affects nature around us. This show will be paired with a compilation of beautiful astrophotography images. \u201dCosmic Recipe\u201d details the origin of the elements.<\/p>\n

The first holiday show\u2014\u201cSpooky Space,\u201d a favorite Halloween feature, has five showings: Oct. 18 and 25 at 7:30 p.m.; Oct. 22 and 29 at 6:30 p.m., and Oct. 25 at 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

November shows are \u201cThe Dark Matter Mystery,\u201d about searching for dark matter and how we seek to understand the nature of this unseen mass that seems to permeate the Universe, and \u201cWe Choose Space\u201d for younger audiences, about human exploration of space, from the Apollo missions to the Moon and life aboard the International Space Station to looking forward to possible future colonies on the Moon.<\/p>\n

\u201cDark Matter\u201d will be screened at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, 8, 15 and 22 and at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 12. \u201cWe Choose Space\u201d will be shown at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, 8, 15 and 22, and at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 and19.<\/p>\n

In December, celebrate the Christmas season with returning favorites \u201cThe Alien Who Stole Christmas\u201d and longtime planetarium director Dale Smith\u2019s beloved classic, \u201cSecret of the Star.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Alien Who Stole Christmas\u201d will be shown at 6:30 pm. on Dec. 3 and at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 and 13. Dates and times for \u201cSecret of the Star\u201d are Dec. 6 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

The Planetarium will offer special shows for Homecoming and Falcon Family Weekend.<\/p>\n

For Homecoming Weekend, the planetarium will feature \u201cUnveiling the Invisible Universe,\u201d \u00a0which presents images of the cosmos revealed by all these different messengers. The show times during Homecoming Weekend are Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., and Sept. 26 at noon and 1 p.m. Falcon Family Weekend showtimes are Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Oct. 17 at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

Weather permitting, the public is invited to visit the BGSU rooftop observatory after evening planetarium shows, as well as on clear Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from Sept. 4 through Nov. 3.<\/p>\n

The planetarium is located in Room 112 of the Physical Sciences Building on BGSU\u2019s campus. A $2 donation is suggested for all planetarium shows.<\/p>\n
