CHICAGO \u2014 Former Iowa Hawkeye Kate Martin has signed a developmental contract with the Chicago Sky, the WNBA team announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Martin, a 6-foot guard, most recently played for the Los Angeles Sparks. She appeared in 17 games with Los Angeles this season after beginning the year on a developmental deal that was later converted to a standard contract.<\/p>\n
The Sky said Martin will wear No. 20 and could be available when Chicago returns from the FIBA break Sept. 17 against the Washington Mystics, if activated.<\/p>\n
Martin was selected by the Las Vegas Aces with the 18th overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft after a five-year career with the Hawkeyes. She later joined the Golden State Valkyries through the 2025 expansion draft before being waived ahead of the 2026 season.<\/p>\n
At Iowa, Martin helped lead the Hawkeyes to consecutive appearances in the national championship game.<\/p>\n
