What: The world\u2019s top 16 national teams compete in Berlin for 36 games played over 10 days starting Friday.<\/p>\n
How it works: Teams are divided into four groups of four and will play three games against each other in a round-robin format. At the end of the Group Phase, the teams finishing first in each group advance to the quarterfinals and the last-place teams are eliminated. The second- and third-place teams compete against teams in other groups in a single-elimination game for a quarterfinals berth.<\/p>\n
The knockout stage, which begins Sept. 10, features eight teams seeded in four loser-out quarterfinal matchups. The semifinal winners advance to the finals while the losers face off in a third-place game. The championship game is Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. PT.<\/p>\n
Ways to watch: All games are streamed on HBO Max. In addition, 17 games, including every Team USA contest, will air live on TNT and truTV.<\/p>\n
