SDE blu-ray quick pre-order<\/a> \u2022\u00a0 Manic Street Preachers<\/a> and Pet Shop Boys<\/a> blu-rays also announced today.<\/p>\n

The Who By Numbers, The Who\u2019s<\/a> seventh studio album, will be released as an SDE exclusive blu-ray audio next month, alongside box set and vinyl editions.<\/p>\n

Released in October 1975, the album features nine Townshend Originals, including the hits \u2018Squeeze Box\u2019 and \u2018Slip Kid\u2019. \u2018Success Story\u2019 was written by John \u2018The Ox\u2019 Entwistle.<\/p>\n

The Who By Numbers SDE blu-ray is the final Who album from the 1970s to be released as an SDE blu-ray, after Quadrophenia, Who\u2019s Next and Who Are You.<\/p>\n

\"\"The Who By Numbers is the fourth SDE blu-ray of a Who studio album from the 1970s<\/p>\n

This blu-ray includes something really quite special: 1 hr and 43 minutes of VIDEO FOOTAGE of The Who playing live at Metropolitan Stadium, Pontiac, Michigan on 6 December 1975.<\/p>\n

This was a significant show. The Who set a (then) record for the largest ever indoor rock concert attendance when 76,898 people packed into Metropolitan Stadium in Pontiac, also known as \u2018The Silverdome\u2019.\u00a0Due to the venue\u2019s size, a large closed circuit video screen was installed and four cameras were used to convey instant visuals to the back projection. The images were recorded onto 2\u2033 videotape with the sound captured in mono via a direct line feed from the PA.In 1977 the film was partly used in The Kids Are Alright movie but some 50 years on the entire show has been exhumed from The Who\u2019s Archives and professionally cleaned up, with the audio remastered (it remains in mono). It stands as one of the few complete visual records of this tour \u2013 The Who\u2019s last with Keith Moon.<\/p>\n

Other formats available including a 5CD+blu-ray super deluxe box set with a 100-page hardback book featuring extensive sleeve notes, rare photographs, memorabilia and archive material from the period. The content of the blu-ray in this box is the same is what\u2019s on the SDE blu-ray. There\u2019s also a 2CD set which the second disc offering \u2018highlights\u2019 from the extra content in the big box. A 3LP edition pairs remastered audio on LP 1 with Live at Vetch Field, Swansea 12 June 1976 (LPs 2 & 3). There\u2019s also a single black vinyl half-speed mastered version.<\/p>\n

The Who By Numbers (Region-free) blu-ray audio is #78 in the ongoing SDE Surround Series<\/a> and it will be packaged similarly to previous editions and ships with a free, collectible SDE Surround Series slipcase.<\/p>\n
