{"id":836845,"date":"2026-09-05T02:08:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T02:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/836845\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T02:08:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T02:08:12","slug":"report-clemson-tells-lsu-that-use-of-former-nfl-players-could-breach-game-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/836845\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Clemson tells LSU that use of former NFL players could breach game contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the SEC and LSU continue to battle over whether the Tigers will use former NFL players in Saturday night\u2019s regular-season opener, LSU\u2019s opponent has chimed in.<\/p>\n<p>Via Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, Clemson has informed LSU that playing former professional players on Saturday <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/YahooSports\/status\/2095938366776721524?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">may constitute a breach<\/a> of the game contract.<\/p>\n<p>That said, Clemson said it intends to play the game \u2014 and that it is not seeking financial damages.<\/p>\n<p>Obvious question: Why raise it if they\u2019re not going to do anything about it?<\/p>\n<p>Obvious answer: It\u2019s another piece of performative nonsense aimed at getting a federal antitrust exemption.<\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s the final point for now, one that was made on Friday\u2019s PFT Live. Why are college teams making an issue out of using \u201cprofessional\u201d players? Currently, college football players are professional players.<\/p>\n<p>The guys who want to return to LSU aren\u2019t doing it because they\u2019re choosing to eschew the riches of the NFL in an effort to win a national title.
