\n\tAs Kanye West<\/a> returned to the Windy City for a two-night stay, he had some support from an old friend.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Saturday, Kid Cudi<\/a> defended performing with the controversial 24x Grammy-winning artist the night before at Soldier Field in Chicago<\/a>, telling a critic that although \u201cI understand ur frustration,\u201d \u201cI don\u2019t really care if ur disappointed in me\u201d over making amends with West, who signed the \u201cDay n Nite\u201d artist to his GOOD Music label in 2008.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat man is my brother. U don\u2019t have a relationship w him like I do. Damn near 2 decades of art and friendship,\u201d wrote Cudi. \u201cU not family. So I get it.\u00a0I\u2019ve been around Ye, and I can honestly say talking to him now is how it use to be when I first signed to him, but even better.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Free artist added, \u201cHe was dealing w mental health struggles for years and now he\u2019s good.\u00a0Everyone deserves some grace when they family.\u00a0I was the hardest on him out of anybody. I held him accountable.\u00a0He apologized and it was sincere. But like I said, u not family so I get it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing West\u2019s antisemitic behavior<\/a> last year, including a pro-Hitler song<\/a>, for which he apologized with a full-page ad<\/a> in The Wall Street Journal in January, Cudi told West he was \u201cdone<\/a>\u201d with the Donda artist, who had also made insulting remarks about the late Virgil Abloh.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd it breaks my heart, because I loved Kanye, you know?\u201d said Cudi. \u201cI really loved him, he was a part of my life changing. And at some point, he was a really good friend, but the man that he has become, I just don\u2019t know that guy anymore. I don\u2019t know him, I don\u2019t know that version of him, and it\u2019s really heartbreaking.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing his public apology, West embarked on his Ye Live Concert Tour in April, which he continues on Oct. 24 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
