{"id":838447,"date":"2026-09-06T12:58:17","date_gmt":"2026-09-06T12:58:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/838447\/"},"modified":"2026-09-06T12:58:17","modified_gmt":"2026-09-06T12:58:17","slug":"will-you-still-be-my-friend-sales-boarded-by-moveria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/838447\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Will You Still Be My Friend&#8217; Sales Boarded by Moveria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tParis-based <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/moveria\/\" id=\"auto-tag_moveria\" data-tag=\"moveria\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Moveria<\/a> has boarded international sales on Taiwanese filmmaker Lu Po-Shun\u2019s debut feature \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/will-you-still-be-my-friend\/\" id=\"auto-tag_will-you-still-be-my-friend\" data-tag=\"will-you-still-be-my-friend\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will You Still Be My Friend<\/a>,\u201d which is set for a berth in San Sebasti\u00e1n\u2019s New Directors sidebar before travelling on to the <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/busan-international-film-festival\/\" id=\"auto-tag_busan-international-film-festival\" data-tag=\"busan-international-film-festival\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Busan International Film Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tA Taiwan-Singapore co-production, the film follows two young boys, played by Jaden Wang and Aloysius Looi, whose bond comes under strain as tensions build between their families and the surrounding rural community. Rounding out the cast are Lung Tien Hsiang, Lu Yi-Ching, Andie Chen, Kate Pang and Xing Chang.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tA trailer has been unveiled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tEric Chou Tseng-Chen and Yu-Hao Su produced the film through Taiwan-based InLight Film Studio and Verdant Peak Films.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAt San Sebasti\u00e1n, the film is also in contention for the Sebastiane Award, an honor for films exploring LGBTQIA+ themes and experiences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn the story, an escalating feud in a rural Taiwanese village forces a boy to shield his secret friendship with his Singapore-raised best friend from the adult conflicts threatening to divide them, even as he privately begins to question his own feelings for his friend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWhat I really connected with is the relationship between the two boys,\u201d said Yasmin Porangaba, Moveria\u2019s head of sales and acquisition. \u201cWhen they\u2019re alone, everything feels simple, light and natural. It\u2019s like they have this little world of their own, almost like a secret, because the people around them don\u2019t really get them. Around their families and friends, they have to fit into certain roles, while their time together feels like a space where none of that matters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI also love that the film never defines what they are to each other. They\u2019re too young to really make sense of it themselves, and I like that the film leaves that open. They know how to be there for each other, forgive each other and just move forward in a way that feels surprisingly mature. The two boys are amazing together, the film is beautiful, and that\u2019s really what made us want to represent it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe film has already built an international industry profile through selections including Ties That Bind, the Golden Horse Film Project Promotion, EFM Far East in Progress and HAF Goes to Cannes at the Cannes Film Market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLu\u2019s short film \u201cWild Tides\u201d earlier earned him the best director prize at the Taipei Film Awards. He also directed the segment \u201cWay Home\u201d in the 2018 anthology film \u201cTen Years Taiwan,\u201d part of Busan\u2019s A Window on Asian Cinema lineup. \u201cWill You Still Be My Friend\u201d is his first feature as director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tProducer Eric Chou Tseng-Chen brings experience in sales, acquisitions, project management and festival promotion on the international circuit, and co-produced \u201cGet the Hell Out,\u201d which had its bow in the Midnight Madness lineup at Toronto in 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tYu-Hao Su has produced credits such as Shatara Michelle Ford\u2019s \u201cTest Pattern,\u201d a Film Independent Spirit Award and Gotham Award nominee, as well as \u201cFragrance of the First Flower.\u201d Su also executive produced Ford\u2019s \u201cDreams in Nightmares,\u201d which screened in Berlinale\u2019s Panorama section.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tInLight Film Studio, a Taiwan-based outfit, spans film and visual art projects, while Verdant Peak Films is dedicated to bringing Taiwanese stories to global audiences and developing international co-productions.
