The Milwaukee Bucks<\/a> have put themselves in a not-so-ideal position. Heading into this season, the team does not own its first-round pick, which is detrimental for a rebuilding team. The headline of their offseason was trading away ten-time All-Star and Franchise legend Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Antetokounmpo brought Milwaukee their first championship in 50 years in 2021, something he wanted to accomplish ever since he was drafted in 2013. He spent 13 seasons with the team, winning two MVPs as well as making All-Defensive and All-NBA teams multiple times. What Antetokounmpo did for the city of Milwaukee can not be understated.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why when he was traded this offseason, it was a huge shock. For the past few years, Antetokounmpo and his future with the Bucks were up in the air, but nothing ever happened. After he played just 36 games last season due to injury, it became clearer that his time with the Bucks may be coming to an end. Milwaukee eventually traded him to the Miami Heat<\/a>, beginning the first step of their rebuild.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Milwaukee, they weren\u2019t looking at the team and thinking they needed to rebuild it a few years ago. That\u2019s why they signed Myles Turne<\/a>r to a four-year, $107 million contract last season. Turner was viewed as a great piece in the frontcourt alongside Antetokounmpo, but didn\u2019t live up to those expectations. Now, with a roster going in the opposite direction and Turner signed to a massive long-term deal, Milwaukee is at a standstill.<\/p>\n

What Will Happen To Myles Turner?<\/p>\n

Milwaukee has recognized its failed experiment with Turner and is now turning the page to a new chapter. He is 30 years old and doesn\u2019t fit the timeline of the rest of the team. Turner can still be viewed as a valuable asset. He is a great rim-protector and has shown potential to be a great shooting big man. Right now, Milwaukee just doesn\u2019t need his services, so their action becomes clearer. <\/p>\n

Turner should be traded to a team that could benefit from his playstyle, and Milwaukee should see a decent return. However, some shocking news has just been revealed concerning Turner and the Bucks\u2019 position. ESPN\u2019s NBA insider Ben Golliver<\/a> recently said the following about the situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bad news: They haven\u2019t yet found a taker for\u00a0Myles Turner, who was signed to a four-year, $107 million contract last summer in a failed attempt to appease Antetokounmpo,\u201d Golliver said.<\/p>\n

As mentioned, Turner doesn\u2019t exactly fit the scheme of what Milwaukee is trying to do. Going into next season, they are projected to be a bottom team in the league. Much of this has to do with Antetokounmpo\u2019s exit, for whom they found multiple trade partners. Not the same can be said about Turner. In a situation like this, Milwaukee will have their hand forced and must play Turner in hopes they can eventually trade him. <\/p>\n

Their current situation of not owning their pick makes it even worse. They have no incentive to lose games and have no idea how the new lottery odds will work out. Turner still has multiple years left on his deal, and he could prevent their younger players from fully developing.
