WEST VIRGINIA (WCHS) \u2014 Travelers and photographers are invited to celebrate the beauty of the Mountain State this fall with the West Virginia State Parks Foundation\u2019s \u201cFall Colors Are Always Free\u201d photo contest.<\/p>\n
The contest, which runs from Sept. 8 through Nov. 6, invites photographers to capture and celebrate the beauty of West Virginia\u2019s state parks, forests and rail trails during autumn.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe recently wrapped up our summer photo contest,\u201d foundation executive director Brad Reed said in a news release. \u201cWe received hundreds of incredible submissions that showcased our state park areas as true four-season destinations.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs our fall weather approaches and the leaves begin to turn, visitation from both residents and tourists increases significantly,\u201d Reed continued. \u201cWe encourage park guests to enjoy everything these special places have to offer\u2014and to capture those unforgettable moments through photography to share with others.\u201d<\/p>\n
The contest is open to both amateur and professional photographers. Winners will receive prizes provided by the West Virginia State Parks system and the foundation, the news release said.<\/p>\n
Submitted pictures must be taken on a West Virginia State Park, state forest or rail trail.<\/p>\n
