President Donald Trump asserted Monday that the Canadian aerospace company Bombardier should no longer be allowed to sell its planes in the U.S., opening a new front in his trade war with Canada<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The move drew an objection hours later from Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., whose state hosts Bombardier\u2019s U.S. headquarters. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s the latest example of pushback from Republican senators<\/a> against Trump\u2019s Canada trade policy, which has sparked back-and-forth tariffs months from the midterm elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cNO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES!\u201d Trump wrote in a Monday post on Truth Social<\/a>. \u201cTheir products aren\u2019t good enough!\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump further charged that the company depends on \u201cAmerican Buyers, American Companies, American Airports, and American Service \u2014 All while Canada blocks our GREAT American Banks, and Companies, throughout the U.S.A.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they want our Market,\u201d Trump added, \u201cthey must build here, and stop treating America like a \u2018piggybank.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The president\u2019s missive drew a response from Bombardier, which defended its investments in the U.S., and from Moran, who in a post on X<\/a> noted that the company is a major employer in his state.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe presence of Bombardier in Wichita supports a local workforce of more than a thousand employees, who contribute their talent and expertise to our nation\u2019s defense and aerospace capabilities,\u201d Moran wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis afternoon, I reached out to the Trump administration to make certain the President is aware of the significant contributions of Bombardier to Kansas and the importance of its presence in Wichita to many Kansas workers at Bombardier and in the Bombardier supply chain,\u201d Moran added.<\/p>\n

In a Monday statement, Bombardier described itself as \u201ca strong contributor\u201d to the American aerospace industry that is responsible for \u201ccreating tens of thousands of jobs across the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBombardier\u2019s American workers are based all around the United States with sites in Kansas, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Connecticut, Illinois, Delaware, California, Washington D.C. and New Jersey, as well as overall direct employment presence in more than 20 states,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n

Bombardier also noted a robust U.S. supply chain, as well as the \u201cAmerican-made components\u201d used in their planes.<\/p>\n

\u201cSignificantly, the wings for the world\u2019s fastest business jet are made by American workers at Bombardier\u2019s facility in Red Oak, Texas while crucial flight control components are made in Bombardier\u2019s Los Angeles, California area facility,\u201d the company added. \u201cBombardier has also announced extensive plans to grow its defense activities as well as its service network and will, later this year, inaugurate a new facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s clash with the company comes amid a trade war in which the president has imposed new tariffs on Canadian products and signed an executive order<\/a> to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America.<\/p>\n

Canada responded to Trump\u2019s tariffs by announcing retaliatory tariffs<\/a> on nearly $20 billion worth of goods.
