One of the most sought-after prospects in the country, Muurinen officially announced his Top 7 schools, putting some of college basketball’s biggest names on high alert. At 6’10” with a smooth shooting stroke, elite athleticism, and international experience, Muurinen’s game screams pro potential — and now, seven programs are in the hunt to land one of the most dynamic frontcourt players in his class.

Top 7 Schools:
Kentucky
Duke
North Carolina
Michigan
Indiana
NC State
Arkansas

Muurinen has already taken visits to Michigan (Sept 14) and Arkansas (Sept 20), and it will be interesting to see who is up next when it comes to checking out programs. Right now, no official dates have been set. But these programs are eyeing themselves on securing one of the top prospects in the country and earning a commitment from a player that has a tremendous skillset/feel as well as future potential. Our very own, Patrick O’Brien, had this to say about Muurinen back in 2024:

“2026 6’10 Miikka Muurinen has an NBA-type game

A player who has risen the ranks quickly and is ranked as a Top 10 prospect by many national outlets, Muurinen was one that quickly grabbed our attention and will be on several NBA radars in the coming years. We are talking about a 6’10 prospect who has such a great feel for the game, can operate from all levels of the court, and makes his presence felt in so many ways. Offensively, he can score at the rim and in the paint, showing touch and feel around the basket. He is also comfortable in creating off the dribble, rising over defenders from different levels, and popping out from three to knock down shots with a fluid feel. Defensively, he rebounds well with his length and loves how well he moves defensively in altering shots. Even battling a tough game with foul trouble, Muurinen showed why he is being recruited by so many and has a chance to play at the next level.”

Muurinen was a prospect that many had known about, but he came onto the scene and rose up the national rankings last summer. At Peach Jam, Muurinen helped lead Bradley Beal to a championship, averaging 17.8 points and shooting 60 percent from the floor. He only continued that success this past high school season at AZ Compass, as the 6’10 forward displayed a blossoming game. What makes him so interesting in my eyes is his advanced feel for the game; however, I do think there is more growth and potential overall as he gets stronger and older. Muurinen can be a factor in several ways with the ball in his hands, whether it is being able to create and attack off the bounce, covering a ton of floor space with his length. He finishes high at the rim, creates a mismatch with his length, can step out and score with his jumper, be a lob threat at the basket, and be a difference-maker defensively.

POB’s Thoughts on Recruitment:

Having watched Muurinen on a few occasions, I’m highly intrigued by where he may ultimately end up. In saying that, I admit that I have no intel on where he may eventually end up. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to dive into his options.

With Muurinen’s fluidity, length, and skillset, he could fit in well at multiple programs. Duke and Arkansas are two intriguing programs, with Coach Calipari understanding very well how to use a 6’10 prospect with the skillset to operate inside and out. Duke, who will once again be losing premier talent next season, may have options for Muurinen to flourish early with his height and ability to mix it up offensively. Coach Scheyer knows how to adapt a roster around his talent, mixing him up on offense from outside and inside.

Kentucky under Coach Pope’s offense would be another intriguing place as well. Coming off a season in which they averaged 85ppg, Muurrinen could be a critical weapon in running the floor, getting to his spots to knock down shots, and attacking off the bounce, especially with his comfort level with the ball in his hands. With his ability to shoot from behind the arc, along with his impact defensively, suiting up for the Wildcats in the SEC would be fun to watch as well.

Landing a talent like Muurinen at North Carolina would be a huge win when it comes to a recruiting battle and potentially a prospect to replace Caleb Wilson, if everything continues to trend in the direction many have predicted. If Wilson is a one-and-done, Muurinen could come in and be a key piece for the Tar Heels as well as give Davis another Top 20 prospect.

Indiana, Michigan, and NC State are the three other schools on his list. His visit to Michigan could go a long way, and Coach Dusty May has things rolling there. Coming off an incredible season last year, the Wolverines look to be on track as one of the premier teams in the conference again and in the national landscape. Having players like Danny Wolf flourish in his system could be enticing for Muurinen. NC State making his final seven schools was certainly big as well, as Coach Wade has already made waves before his first true season. Wade has proven time after time that he knows how to win, and win with talent. There is no doubt that he would look to highlight Muurinen’s skill set within his offense, and landing a Top 20 talent over blue bloods would go a long way for the program. Indiana would be another program where a Muurinen commitment would go a long way. The new staff have been recruiting him and making him a priority, and if they were able to land a Top 20 prospect like Muurinen, it would only continue to build momentum for a program looking to make a statement under a new staff.

Highlights:

5-Star Miikka Muurinen DOMINATES in AZ Compass First Home Game Of The Season! – YouTube

The Next Cooper Flagg! 5 Star Miika Muurinen INSANE Highlights🫣🔥

2026 6-10 F Miikka Muurinen – EYBL Highlights (Spring 2024)

The recruitment of 2026 5-star forward Miikka Muurinen is heating up — and the race just got real.…

[68
402,398,400,401,99
0":"post-8409","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-ncaa-basketball","8":"tag-basketball","9":"tag-ncaa","10":"tag-ncaa-basketball","11":"tag-ncaabasketball","12":"tag-sports
["GET
