{"id":841211,"date":"2026-09-09T01:28:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T01:28:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/841211\/"},"modified":"2026-09-09T01:28:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T01:28:14","slug":"trump-transport-chief-blasts-fords-business-deals-with-chinese-firms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/841211\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump transport chief blasts Ford\u2019s business deals with Chinese firms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The Trump administration on Tuesday blasted Ford Motor\u2019s business partnerships with Chinese companies, saying they posed national security concerns.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy in a letter \u200cto Ford CEO Jim Farley sent on Tuesday said the carmaker\u2019s dealings with Chinese battery maker CATL and Chinese carmakers Geely and BYD raised \u201cprofound concern\u201d.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">He urged Ford to cut ties with major Chinese companies.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Duffy said USDOT was \u201cdeeply alarmed\u201d by Ford\u2019s reliance on licensed technology from Chinese battery manufacturer CATL at its plant in Marshall, Michigan, and noted that CATL is on the Pentagon\u2019s list of companies accused of \u2060ties to China\u2019s military.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">He also criticised the company\u2019s decision not to move production of the Lincoln Nautilus from China \u200cto the United States until 2030, as it left the company reliant on Chinese manufacturing for several more years.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy looks on as President Donald Trump speaks during a meeting in the Oval Office on September 2.
