{"id":841809,"date":"2026-09-09T14:08:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T14:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/841809\/"},"modified":"2026-09-09T14:08:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T14:08:12","slug":"skagit-golf-and-country-club-ordered-to-halt-construction-of-turf-center-local-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/841809\/","title":{"rendered":"Skagit Golf and Country Club ordered to halt construction of turf center | Local News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Skagit County Superior Court judge has ordered Skagit Golf and Country Club to halt construction on its new turf care center until <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goskagit.com\/news\/local_news\/appeal-of-skagit-golf-and-country-club-building-permit-to-be-heard-friday\/article_ecdc12ea-1388-49d8-aeb3-09c845b367ca.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the court rules on a Land Use Petition Act appeal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The order issued Friday halts construction on the country club\u2019s 10,500-square-foot building that would serve as a turf care center. The building would replace the previous 4,000-square-foot maintenance shed at 12352 Eleventh Tee Lane west of Burlington.<\/p>\n<p>Appealing construction of the turf care center is Dean Shaughnessy, who lives next to the proposed site.<\/p>\n<p>He filed a Land Use Petition Act appeal in March, and another in July, challenging the building permit granted to the country club by Skagit County.<\/p>\n<p>Shaughnessy has since requested that the LUPA appeal filed in March be dismissed.<\/p>\n<p>The country club had resumed construction on the turf center on June 8 after the Skagit County Board of Commissioners denied Shaughnessy\u2019s an appeal before the board challenging the building permit and the county Hearing Examiner\u2019s findings that allowed for the permit.<\/p>\n<p>The judge\u2019s order to halt construction will last until the court addresses a request by the county and the country club to dismiss the case, and Shaughnessy\u2019s appeal.<\/p>\n<p>The county has requested Shaughnessy\u2019s appeal be dismissed because it was not filed in a timely manner.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Skagit County Superior Court judge has ordered Skagit Golf and Country Club to halt construction on its&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":841810,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[71],"tags":[427,58480,99],"class_list":["post-841809","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-golf","tag-golf","tag-local_news","tag-sports"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/841809","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=841809"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/841809\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/841810"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=841809"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=841809"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=841809"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
