Emma Heming Willis and her family are in a \u201cconstant state of grief\u201d as they continue to care for Bruce Willis amid his frontotemporal dementia (FTD) diagnosis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is extremely difficult and painful,\u201d Emma, 50, said in a new interview<\/a> with Hello! magazine published Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s natural \u2014 we all want our loved ones to be healthy, full of life and [be] the person they always were. But FTD is a devastating illness that steals things from you very slowly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emma (seen above in an Instagram post) revealed that she and her family are in a constant \u201cstate of grief\u201d as they navigate Bruce\u2019s health journey. Instagram\/emmahemingwillis<\/p>\n

Bruce, 71, was diagnosed with the progressive disease in February 2023, about a year after his family revealed he was stepping away from acting following an aphasia diagnosis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Emma pointed to the \u201cimmense lack of information\u201d about dementia, saying the fact that people often ask whether Bruce still remembers her is \u201creally eye-opening.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy answer is always a resounding yes. Bruce doesn\u2019t have Alzheimer\u2019s. He has frontotemporal dementia, which affects a completely different part of the brain,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bruce was diagnosed with FTD in February 2023, roughly a year after he stepped away from acting following his aphasia diagnosis. Emma Heming Willis\/Instagram<\/p>\n

Emma told the magazine she would love to see the way dementia is covered in the media shift \u201conce and for all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish they\u2019d inform themselves about the different types of dementia and learn to report on them accurately, educating the public rather than feeding fear and stigma,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Emma also spoke about how Bruce\u2019s children<\/a> have been \u201cshowing up for him\u201d throughout his health journey.<\/p>\n

Bruce shares daughters Mabel, 14, and Evelyn, 12, with Emma, whom he married in 2009<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He is also dad to daughters Rumer, 38, Scout, 35, and Tallulah, 32, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Demi Moore.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach of them has built her own unique bond with him,\u201d Emma said. \u201cIt\u2019s incredible because all five are completely different, but they share the same foundation: Bruce was always an incredibly solid, steadfast presence in their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Proof of that bond came most recently in August at Tallulah\u2019s wedding to Justin Acee, where Bruce was photographed celebrating with his daughter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a black-and-white photo published by Vogue, Bruce was seen wrapping an arm around Tallulah while holding Acee\u2019s hand as Tallulah snuggled into her dad\u2019s shoulder.<\/p>\n
