PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Rap superstar and Philadelphia native Meek Mill returned home with a mission: to inspire young people to dream bigger.

Hundreds of high school and college students gathered for the 2026 Dreamchasers Sports and Entertainment Summit, a daylong event featuring some of the biggest names in music, sports and entertainment.

“I wanted to bring the educational side, so maybe some kids can leave here with some motivation,” Mill said in an exclusive interview with Action News anchor Sharrie Williams.

“Philly does need something that’s motivational. I do shows all the time, but I want to bring something that adds benefit to the community,” he added.

The summit combined major star power with purpose.

“It’s amazing because the people made it so far and didn’t turn their backs on where they came from, and still come back and give a lot to Philly,” said Elijah Pietersen, a 12th grader at Randolph High School.

“It gives me hope because I’m also from North Philly,” added Diamond Rosa, a 12th grader at Abraham Lincoln High School. “It’s really amazing to see people from where I’m from. Philly sometimes gets a bad reputation, but you see that these people excelled and became something great.”

More than 1,000 high school and college students filled Temple University’s Liacouras Center for the event.

Temple University partnered with Meek Mill to make this day of culture and education possible.

The event also marked a return to North Philadelphia for Meek Mill, who grew up in the neighborhood.

“I try to be a role model to my two sons,” Mill said. “I try to make sure I perform correctly in public and to the young men and women who are watching me. It feels great to know people acknowledge me.”
