BANGOR, Maine (WABI) -Collectors and sports fans in Bangor have a new reason to celebrate this weekend.<\/p>\n
Flagg Trading Co. held a special preview ahead of its official grand opening on Main Street.<\/p>\n
The new collectibles shop is co-owned by NBA star and Maine native Cooper Flagg and his cousin Tyler.<\/p>\n
The store promises to be a destination for trading cards, memorabilia and hobby enthusiasts across the region.<\/p>\n
For Cooper, being able to open an establishment in his hometown is something he\u2019s always wanted to do, and it gives him time away from the hectic nature of the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think this is different than a lot of card shops I\u2019ve been to around the country, just as far as the environment being very welcoming and kind of cozy. It feels like a spot where you can kind of just hang out. If you do buy stuff, hang out and open it, and have a good vibe. So, it\u2019ll definitely be somewhere I\u2019ll be able to hang out and open stuff and hang out with my friends. I love opening cards and chasing cards and stuff like that, so it\u2019s just kind of a mutual interest thing where I was already really enjoying doing it, and I thought it was something that could really benefit this area and the people here, so I think it\u2019s a little bit of the best of both worlds,\u201d Flagg said.<\/p>\n
According to Cooper, he and his cousin Tyler have been talking about the idea of opening a store like this for around two years now.<\/p>\n
Flagg Trading Company officially opens its doors to the public Wednesday morning at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n
