\n\tSunny Hostin<\/a> received pushback from her co-hosts on The View<\/a> as she defended the use of AI in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

\n\tHostin, who recently licensed her name and likeness to AI company Fountain 0, argued that generative AI should be considered a \u201cnew art form,\u201d noting that it can help the entertainment industry show more Black and Brown representation.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI partnered with this company because I\u2019ve written a trilogy, and for six years I\u2019ve tried to get my films or my stories made into series and films, and the gatekeeping in Hollywood around Black and Brown creative content is insane,\u201d the former prosecutor said. \u201cI cannot get New York Times best-selling books onto the screen to tell diverse stories to diverse communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe continued, \u201cWith AI, that cuts out the gatekeeping. You get to make your film. You get to have a director \u2026 It\u2019s a way to go to a streamer and say, \u2018Here\u2019s the product. Will you license it? Will you show it?\u2019 It\u2019s a way, I think, to get Black and Brown stories told.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJoy Behar noted that with AI, \u201creal people are not working,\u201d and Hostin added, \u201cThe real people are not getting jobs in Hollywood. Black and Brown actors are not getting the jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlyssa Farah Griffin jumped on Behar\u2019s point and said, \u201cI worry you\u2019re closing the doors to those roles being played by Black and Brown actors and being replaced by AI.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat would be great if the studios would not gatekeep and allow the stories to be told,\u201d Hostin replied.<\/p>\n

\n\tGriffin also said generative AI is \u201cpulling from intellectual property of all the existing actors out there,\u201d and they aren\u2019t getting residuals for it.<\/p>\n

\n\tOne thing that\u2019s for sure is that the AI \u201ctrain has left the station,\u201d as Hostin said, who added, \u201cThis is something that\u2019s here. It\u2019s not going away, and I think that there are going to be enormous benefits.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAna Navarro asked Hostin whether she felt any ethical issues with working with an AI company, and Hostin said she \u201cthought about it a lot\u201d before signing away her likeness.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think that diverse stories need to be told,\u201d Hostin said before Behar interjected to say, \u201cWe\u2019ve said that already. I\u2019m saying that those same people that you\u2019re worried about are now out of work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHostin defended that point, saying, \u201cI\u2019m not the person putting them out of work because the studios just won\u2019t make these projects.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBehar then said, \u201cForce them to do it rather than have a robot replace Black people in movies.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHostin closed out the topic, saying, \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s ever going to take away the arts. I think it\u2019s a different art form.\u201d<\/p>\n
