Daniil Prokhorov had an unlikely English tutor this summer: Chris Kreider.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Islanders\u2019 prospect from Krasnodar, Russia, stayed stateside this summer following the club\u2019s July development camp.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During the summer, he trained with strength coach Ben Prentiss\u2019 group in Stamford, Conn., that includes Kreider and Trevor Zegras, as well as fellow Russians Pavel Dorofeyev and Dmitri Voronkov.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When he was drafted with the<\/a> 10th pick in the second round a year ago, Prokhorov spoke essentially no English, but on Friday, he spoke at a conversational level during an interview with The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The improvement is in part down to having spent more time in the States, but Kreider \u2014 who is trilingual in English, Russian and Spanish \u2014 played a role, as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe talks in good Russian, Kreider, and he trained me in English,\u201d Prokhorov told The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This will be Prokhorov\u2019s first full season<\/a> in North America, having played one game in Bridgeport at the end of last year. He shuttled between Russia\u2019s KHL and VHL \u2014 the country\u2019s second-highest level \u2014 for most of last season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At 6-foot-5, Prokhorov casts an imposing figure on the ice, though his size does make skating an area in which he\u2019ll constantly need improving.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cFull summer I trained, my physical coach, Ben Prentiss, [did a] good job,\u201d Prokhorov said. \u201cThree trainings every day: two gym, one ice. It\u2019s a good summer. I\u2019m ready for the season.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Quinn Finley practiced Friday with a non-contact jersey, having undergone shoulder surgery early in the offseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The website is currently available to veterans, service members and their families in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens counties, as well as New Jersey, with plans to expand throughout New York state in 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s one of the best practice players I\u2019ve ever coached or even played with,\u201d McKee said. \u201cHe\u2019s very intense. Does everything with a purpose. Snaps his passes. He\u2019s got a very active stick. He\u2019s a very, very talented player. Like all of them, there\u2019s areas of improvement, but his potential and his upside is very high.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
