Boston College linebacker Bodie Kahoun could move his arms and legs, the school said Friday night, after he was taken from the field in an ambulance and driven to a nearby hospital following a tackle in the first half of the Eagles\u2019 home game against Rutgers.<\/p>\n
\u201cBodie Kahoun has movement in all extremities and is being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation,\u201d the team posted on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n The injury occurred with just under eight minutes remaining in the second quarter, when Kahoun combined with a teammate to tackle<\/a> Rutgers running back Antwan Raymond near midfield. As another Boston College player jumped to join the tackle, his knee collided with Kahoun\u2019s upper body and appeared to strike the back of Kahoun\u2019s helmet as the group came to the ground.<\/p>\n Kahoun, a transfer from Notre Dame, remained on his back after the play as team staff and emergency medical personnel moved him onto a stretcher and put him into the back of an ambulance on the field. As he was wheeled into the vehicle, Kahoun raised his left arm and flashed a thumbs-up.<\/p>\n Bodie Kahoun gives a thumbs up to Alumni Stadium as he is taken out in an ambulance pic.twitter.com\/oLt5ih1aIn<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 ESPN College Football (@ESPNCFB) September 12, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n Shortly after the incident, sideline reporter Dana Boyle said on the ESPN broadcast that the redshirt sophomore linebacker from Roanoke, Va., was taken to Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital, about 4 miles from Boston College\u2019s home field in Chestnut Hill, Mass.<\/p>\n \u201cNow we\u2019re playing for two reasons: for Bodie, for Welles,\u201d Eagles defensive back KP Price said during a halftime interview on the broadcast.<\/p>\n Price was referring to Welles Crowther, a former Boston College lacrosse player who graduated in 1999 and became an equities trader. He died in the 9\/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Crowther became known as the \u201cMan in the Red Bandanna<\/a>\u201d for his heroism on Sept. 11, 2001, when he tied a red bandanna around his face to protect himself from smoke and made several trips back into the South Tower to help remove at least 10 people from the building before it collapsed.<\/p>\n On Friday, the 25th anniversary of 9\/11, Boston College honored Crowther with its annual \u201cbandanna game,\u201d when the team wears custom uniforms with a red paisley bandanna pattern, and players\u2019 surnames are replaced with \u201cFor Welles\u201d on the back of their jerseys.<\/p>\n The Eagles won 28-21. Kahoun logged six tackles before he was injured.<\/p>\n
