\u201cReacher\u201d star Alan Ritchson and wife Catherine announced their split<\/a> after 20 years of marriage via a joint Instagram post shared Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way,\u201d the statement began. \u201cWe grew up together. We built a life and a family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the center of our world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ritchson and Catherine went on to note that \u201cnothing can diminish what these years have meant to us\u201d and \u2014 or the love and respect we will always share.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a joint statement shared to Instagram (seen above), the couple said they\u2019d \u201cdecided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way.\u201d Instagram\/@alanritchson<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best gift we can give one another \u2014 and our boys \u2014 right now is friendship, grace and a commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be,\u201d they continued.<\/p>\n

The pair expressed that they \u201cwant to give each other room to grow into the people we are becoming,\u201d noting that \u201cchange is hard enough without the whole world weighing in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ritchson and Catherine asked for \u201cprivacy and compassion\u201d \u2014 \u201cespecially for the sake of our boys,\u201d they emphasized \u2014 as they navigate this chapter.<\/p>\n

They concluded their statement by listing \u201cthe health and happiness\u201d of their family as their \u201cpriority.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ritchson and Catherine married in May 2006 and they share three sons \u2014 Calem, born in 2012; Edan, born in 2013; and Amory, born in 2015.<\/p>\n

The now-estranged couple first met in ballet when they were in high school<\/a>, the \u201cSmallville\u201d alum shared in a 2022 interview on \u201cToday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ritchson revealed at the time that Catherine would bring him cookies before his performances before gushing, \u201cOf course I fell in love.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ritchson marked their 15th wedding anniversary<\/a> with a heartfelt Instagram post in May 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201c15 years ago today two kids got married. They had no idea what splendid and terrible things lie ahead of them when they made that vow to remain each other\u2019s partner in life, come what may,\u201d he wrote, in part, at the time. \u201cDespite the precarious highs and the suffocating lows, they\u2019re still holding hands.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHappy 15 years @catritchson \u2013 I don\u2019t deserve you and the memories we make,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Last month, Catherine shared an Instagram post<\/a> of her and her family in Philadelphia, suggesting the couple had relocated there while Ritchson filmed \u201cReacher\u201d Season 4.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, however, she shared a selfie<\/a> alongside an Instagram about taking a \u201csolo trip\u201d filled with \u201cart\u201d and \u201cstatements that resonate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ritchson, meanwhile, notably got into a viral fight with a neighbor<\/a> in March. He finally addressed the incident in July, calling it the \u201cscariest thing I\u2019ve ever been through\u201d<\/a> on the \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n
