“I don’t know what to say really, I’m still in shock. The speech gets a little bit easier once you’ve won,” said Skupski.<\/p>\n
“Losing twice and having championship points in the final last year was a tough part of my career, but it’s amazing what a year does in tennis.”<\/p>\n
Skupski and Harrison secured the first and only break of the match in the first set, the American slamming a backhand winner down the line to lead 4-3 before seeing out the opener.<\/p>\n
The second set remained on serve until the tie-break, where Puetz and Krawietz profited from a return which clipped the net and wrong-footed Harrison to give the Germans a set point.<\/p>\n
Skupski and Harrison saved it and then brought up championship point as the noise levels rose on Arthur Ashe Stadium.<\/p>\n
Skupski dropped to his knees in celebration after sealing victory before turning to hug Harrison.<\/p>\n
Victory at Flushing Meadows marks Skupski’s third doubles Grand Slam title after he won at Wimbledon in 2023 alongside Koolhof.<\/p>\n
