In his annual letter to shareholders in 2021, he said Berkshire paid &#8220;too much for the company\u201d, which makes &#8220;complex metal components and products.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While Precision Castparts was a &#8220;fine company \u2013 the best in its business\u201d, as Buffett puts it, he had been &#8220;simply too optimistic&#8221; about its profit potential. \u201cI believe I was right in concluding that PCC would, over time, earn good returns on the net tangible assets deployed in its operations. There is currently a shortage of the products Precision Castparts makes that are essential for engine <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#Markets#href\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/topic\/turbine-blades\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">turbine blades<\/a>, Reuters reported. This castings, parts made from liquid metal that are difficult to mass-produce, and forgings, which are made from solid metal and just as hard to make, have been \u2060one of the industry&#8217;s most intractable chokepoints since the COVID-19 pandemic, the report added.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"ET logo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1789306214_486_118783427.cms.png\" width=\"90%\"\/>Live Events<br \/>Last week, <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#Markets#href\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/topic\/ge-aerospace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">GE Aerospace<\/a> announced a $11.75 billion acquisition of <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#Markets#href\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/topic\/consolidated-precision-products\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Consolidated Precision Products<\/a>, one of the few companies that competes against Precision Castparts. But Buffett\u2019s legacy will likely live on for generations to come, and inspire investors.<\/p>\n<p>Buffett first bought Apple shares in 2016, and it has grown into Berkshire&#8217;s single biggest position. It accounts for nearly 22% of the conglomerate&#8217;s roughly $263 billion equity portfolio. Berkshire invested about $35 billion in Apple during the period between 2016 and 2018.
