DEN BOSCH, Netherlands \u2014 For Team USA, this Solheim Cup might best be remembered for two extraordinary putts.<\/p>\n

Captain Angela Stanford wishes there were more of them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we just didn\u2019t make enough putts,\u201d Stanford said. \u201cAnd if you listen to everything I\u2019ve ever said, Europeans always putt better. I don\u2019t know why.\u201d<\/p>\n

That strength on the greens led Europe to a 15-13 victory on Sunday<\/a> after three days at Bernardus Golf.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Kupcho stunned Europe fans with two huge putts <\/a>\u2014 totaling 120 feet \u2014 on Nos. 17 and 18 late Saturday to snatch an unlikely point for the Americans from the last match of the day and tie the score at 8-8 after four sessions.<\/p>\n

The team broke out a crate of Dutch beer on the bus to celebrate.<\/p>\n

\u201cHad to pull out some bottles for Jen,\u201d the team said on its official X account.<\/p>\n

But despite that high, Stanford said her team didn\u2019t come to terms with the speed \u2014 or lack of it \u2014 of the greens at Bernardus Golf.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven when we showed up in July here, they were faster,\u201d she said, adding that she didn\u2019t think that recent rain \u2014 and heavy downpours on Sunday \u2014 were to blame.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t play on greens as slow usually,\u201d she added.<\/a><\/p>\n

Stanford shouldered the blame for not preparing her players better for the conditions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the one thing I am kicking myself is that I just didn\u2019t keep pushing, you know, we got to figure out how to hit our putts a little bit harder, which is really difficult … to change the way you putt,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t just quick greens the Americans missed.<\/p>\n

The support in the Netherlands was also a factor, specifically the loud European fans hugely outnumbering and out-singing the Americans who made the trip across the Atlantic.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Americans were there, but they weren\u2019t as rambunctious as … we\u2019re used to,\u201d said one of Stanford\u2019s assistants, Paula Creamer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very momentum people and with our fans it\u2019s important that we can feed off and get that energy from them,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

They should have that support in two years at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe good news is they can show back up in Kentucky in a couple of years and make it right,\u201d Stanford said.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s not yet clear is whether Stanford will be leading the team there.<\/p>\n

On the last green, shortly after the defeat, she wasn\u2019t immediately ready to commit to another edition.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, we have a pretty good pipeline. There are a lot of captains in line on the American side, a lot of good ones coming,\u201d she said. \u201cSo, yeah, I think we have a lot lined up ready to go.\u201d<\/p>\n
