{"id":847391,"date":"2026-09-14T10:56:15","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T10:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/847391\/"},"modified":"2026-09-14T10:56:15","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T10:56:15","slug":"house-of-the-dragons-maddie-evans-leads-witch-horror-pendle-1612","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/847391\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;House Of The Dragon&#8217;s Maddie Evans Leads Witch Horror &#8216;Pendle 1612&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tEXCLUSIVE: <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/maddie-evans\/\" id=\"auto-tag_maddie-evans\" data-tag=\"maddie-evans\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maddie Evans<\/a> (House of the Dragon) is set to lead upcoming British horror feature <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/pendle-1612\/\" id=\"auto-tag_pendle-1612\" data-tag=\"pendle-1612\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pendle 1612<\/a>, alongside newcomer Ella Moss and Gemma Laurie (Shetland).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWritten and directed by Lancashire-born twin filmmakers Liam Bashford and Kyle Bashford, the film is a docu-horror inspired by the history surrounding the Pendle Witch Trials of 1612.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tEvans will play Amy, with Moss as Hannah and Laurie as Meg, \u201cthree young women whose documentary into the disappearance of Amy\u2019s older sister leads them into the landscape surrounding Pendle Hill, synonymous with Britain\u2019s 1612 witch trials\u201d, which resulted in the hanging of ten people convicted of witchcraft.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe film will shoot on location at the heart of Pendle in Lancashire, with principal photography commencing end of September. Pic is produced by Eleven Eleven Pictures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tLiam Bashford said: \u201cGrowing up in Lancashire, the story of the Pendle Witches has always been around us. There\u2019s something about Pendle itself, the landscape, the isolation and the history beneath it. That has stayed with us since we were kids. We didn\u2019t want to recreate 1612. We wanted to ask what might still be there today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tKyle Bashford added: \u201cIt was also incredibly important to us to bring a feature film home. There is so much filmmaking talent in the North West, and we want to show that ambitious independent films can be made here in Lancashire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Bashford twins began making films together as teenagers in Blackburn before spending eight years working from Pinewood Studios.
