It features various SKUs, and the latest one is the RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell, which targets the Pro and Workstation segment.

The NVIDIA RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell Workstation Edition accelerates agentic AI, physical simulation, and graphics workloads to teams that need workstation power at scale. Built on the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and equipped with 84 GB of ultra-fast GDDR7 memory, it’s designed for rack-mounted workstation deployment with a choice of air- or liquid-cooled thermal solutions, letting teams centralize, share, and scale workstation GPU power across the enterprise.

In terms of specifications, the NVIDIA RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell graphics card is based on the GB202 GPU silicon. This is the same GPU that is housed in the flagship RTX PRO 6000 & the GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards.

The core count is also the same as the RTX 5090, with 21,760 CUDA cores, which are amped up by a 600W TDP. The RTX 5090 features 680 TMUs, 680 Tensor cores, 176 ROPs, and 170 RT cores along with a 96 MB L2 cache. We can’t say for sure if all of these specs will remain the same on the RTX PRO 5500. NVIDIA does mention a trio of its 9th Generation NVENC and 6th Generation NVDEC engines on the chip.

One of the biggest features of the RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell is its VRAM, which is listed at 84 GB. This is 36 GB more than the RTX PRO 5000 Blackwell, 12 GB less than the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell, and over 2.5x more than the RTX 5090. The card supposedly features a 416-bit bus interface, as listed by PNY on the specs page, which is unusual.

If you take a 416-bit bus, that gives us 13 32-bit interfaces. A clamshell design would house 26 DRAM interfaces. With 3 GB DRAM dies, you get 76 GB VRAM, and with 4 GB, you get 104 GB of VRAM. It is likely that NVIDIA is using a mix of different-density VRAM dies to reach 84 GB.

The card does reach a memory bandwidth of up to 1398 GB/s, which means that the memory will be operating at around 27 Gbps speeds. This puts the RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell slightly above the RTX PRO 5000 in terms of bandwidth, but slower than the 1.792 TB/s bandwidth of the RTX 5090 and the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell.

Additional specs include up to four DP 2.1b outputs, a PCIe Gen5 x16 connector interface, a single CEM5 16-pin connector for power, and support for both air- and liquid-cooled thermal solutions. It also supports MIG (Multi-instance GPU) functionality, which turns one card into two instances with 42 GB of memory each. NVIDIA and its partners aren’t listing the prices yet, but we expect it to cost a lot since the RTX PRO 5000 Blackwell 48 GB is listed at around $ 9,200 USD.

NVIDIA RTX PRO “Blackwell” GPU Lineup:

Graphics CardGPU CoresAI TOPSFP32 / RT ComputeVRAMMemory Bus / BWForm FactorTDP

RTX PRO 600024064 (GB202)4000125 / 38096 GB GDDR7512-bit / 1792 GB/sDual-Slot / Extended600W

RTX PRO 6000 Max-Q24064 (GB202)3511110 / 33396 GB GDDR7512-bit / 1792 GB/sDual-Slot / Full300W

RTX PRO 6000D19968 (GB202)TBDTBD84 GB GDDR7448-bit / 1568 GB/sDual-Slot / FullTBD

RTX PRO 550021760 (GB202)TBDTBD84 GB GDDR7416-bit / 1398 GB/sDual-Slot / Full600W

RTX PRO 500014080 (GB202)206465 / 19648-72 GB GDDR7384-bit / 1344 GB/sDual-Slot / Full300W

RTX PRO 450010496 (GB203)168750 / TBD32 GB GDDR7256-bit / 896 GB/sDual-Slot / Full200W

RTX PRO 40008960 (GB203)117837 / 11224 GB GDDR7192-bit / 672 GB/sSingle-Slot / Full140W

RTX PRO 4000 SFF8960 (GB203)77024 / 7324 GB GDDR7192-bit / 432 GB/sDual-Slot / Half70W

RTX PRO 20004352 (GB206)54517 / 5216 GB GDDR7128-bit / 288 GB/sDual-Slot70W

About the author: A Software Engineer by training and a PC enthusiast by passion, Hassan Mujtaba serves as Wccftech’s Senior Editor for hardware section.
