Mackenzie Phillips revealed she didn\u2019t get along with Richard Masur on the set of \u201cOne Day at a Time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRichard Masur wasn\u2019t very nice,\u201d Phillips said on Monday\u2019s episode of former co-star Valerie Bertinelli\u2019s \u201cGetting Naked\u201d podcast.<\/a><\/p>\n

When Bertinelli pointed out that Masur only appeared in the first season of the sitcom, Phillips reiterated, \u201cHe wasn\u2019t very nice.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Phillips said she \u201cmade peace\u201d with Masur, 77, when they ran into each other at an event years later.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw him and he said, \u2018I don\u2019t even remember what it was. I don\u2019t even remember what I said, but whatever I said, I\u2019m really sorry. And I\u2019ve always thought you were so incredibly talented and we were all so young,\u2019\u201d Phillips, 66, recalled.<\/p>\n

Page Six reached out to Masur\u2019s rep for comment.<\/p>\n

Masur played divorce lawyer David Kane for one season on \u201cOne Day at a Time.\u201d He left the show after his character dumped Bonnie Franklin\u2019s Ann Romano and left town.<\/p>\n

The sitcom, developed by late Hollywood icon Norman Lear, aired for nine seasons on CBS from 1975 to 1984. The cast included Phillips, Bertinelli, Franklin, Pat Harrington Jr. and Mary Louise Wilson.<\/p>\n

During the podcast episode, Bertinelli, 66, admitted she was \u201calways afraid\u201d of \u201cbeing reprimanded\u201d by Lear.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was the one that immediately took me aside when I had to cry in the finale of the first season and I couldn\u2019t do it,\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd I couldn\u2019t do it. I was too embarrassed. I wasn\u2019t an actor. I was just learning how to do this.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Bertinelli noted that she \u201cfelt very protected and was in awe\u201d of Lear, who died in 2023 at age 101<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth of us are incredibly lucky to have such a mentor, and someone who wasn\u2019t what you think Hollywood is, because young girls in Hollywood are eaten up and [spit] out, and we were not, under Norman\u2019s tutelage,\u201d Bertinelli told Phillips.<\/p>\n

Phillips, for her part, explained that she \u201chad a wonderful relationship\u201d with the legendary producer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI pedestalized him,\u201d she shared. \u201cI always adored Norman. I loved Norman.
