Stock futures were near flat on Monday evening as traders looked ahead to the Federal Reserve<\/a>‘s policy decision due later this week and weighed a recent climb in oil prices and Treasury yields.<\/p>\n S&P 500 futures<\/a> were up 0.05%, while futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a> gained 21 points, or 0.04%. Nasdaq 100 futures<\/a> advanced 0.03%.\u00a0<\/p>\n In the regular trading day, the Dow<\/a> declined 152 points, or 0.3%. The S&P 500<\/a> lost 0.5%, while the <\/a>Nasdaq Composite<\/a> slipped about 0.6%.<\/p>\n Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed. Japan’s\u00a0Nikkei 225<\/a> gained 0.6%, while the Topix lost 0.11%. South Korea’s Kospi<\/a> fell 0.25%, and the small-cap Kosdaq added 1.78%. Australia’s S&P\/ASX 200<\/a> was down 0.7%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index<\/a> declined 0.3%, while the mainland’s CSI 300 slid 0.18%.<\/p>\n A sell-off in artificial intelligence-related names has weighed down the stock market after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for a slower pace on AI development<\/a>. Over the weekend, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also ruled out<\/a> an initial public offering this year, pointing to growing worries around AI safety.<\/p>\n A slate of AI-connected stocks slid, with Nvidia<\/a> dropping 3% and specialty glass and fiber optic play Corning<\/a> tumbled 13%. The\u00a0iShares AI Innovation and Tech Active ETF (BAI)<\/a> dropped nearly 4%.<\/p>\n Higher Treasury yields also spooked investors. The 10-year Treasury yield<\/a> briefly topped 5% on Monday for its highest level since October 2023. Oil prices also edged higher after Saudi Arabia shuttered a key pipeline that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz<\/a>, leading Brent futures to close above $105 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate crude to settle over $101.<\/p>\n The Fed’s policy rate decision expected Wednesday is also weighing on traders’ minds.
