If a proposal arrives, EuroLeague owners are expected to discuss it at their next meeting on Oct. 5.<\/p>\n<p>EuroLeague reportedly remains open to working with the NBA but has maintained that any agreement would need to benefit both sides.<\/p>\n<p>Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport <a href=\"https:\/\/basketnews.com\/news-255171-euroleague-owners-to-meet-in-italy-to-discuss-expansion-and-nba-europe.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recently reported<\/a> that the NBA could propose buying a controlling stake in EuroLeague.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the NBA has not changed its timetable for the launch of NBA Europe. <a href=\"https:\/\/basketnews.com\/news-255480-nba-europe-facing-growing-doubts-ahead-of-2027-launch.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A league spokesperson told NBA insider Marc Stein<\/a> that the project continues to &#8220;target a rollout beginning in October 2027.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Stein reported hearing skepticism from several European basketball stakeholders about whether the NBA can launch the competition in time for the 2027-28 season.<\/p>\n<p>However, the league office dismissed suggestions that the project could be delayed.<\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-472204-any780x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Credit Getty Images via AFP &#8211; Scanpix<\/p>\n<p> NBA Europe plans 16-team competition <\/p>\n<p>The proposed league is expected to feature 16 teams, with 12 permanent franchises and four places available through annual qualification.<\/p>\n<p>The NBA is working on the project together with FIBA.
