After Kansas City won the coin toss and deferred, Harrison Butker\u2019s opening kickoff resulted in a touchback, giving Denver possession at its own 35-yard line. The Chiefs\u2019 defense immediately put the Broncos behind the sticks when Nohl Williams sacked Bo Nix for a three-yard loss. J.K. Dobbins gained two yards on second down before Nix\u2019s third-and-11 pass intended for Courtland Sutton was intercepted by Mansoor Delane at the Kansas City 49. Delane returned it five yards to the Denver 46, giving the Chiefs excellent field position and the game\u2019s first major momentum swing.<\/p>\n

Chiefs lean on the run to take a 7-0 lead<\/p>\n

Taking over at the Denver 46 following Mansoor Delane\u2019s interception, Kansas City leaned heavily on Kenneth Walker III, who carried seven times for 32 yards and converted a fourth-and-2 to keep the drive alive. Walker\u2019s 12-yard run moved the Chiefs into the red zone, but Patrick Mahomes\u2019 initial five-yard touchdown scramble was nullified by an offensive holding penalty on Kahlil Benson. Broncos answer to tie the game a 7-7<\/p>\n

Denver answered with an efficient, pass-heavy drive. After a defensive offside penalty on L\u2019Jarius Sneed erased a five-yard loss, Bo Nix completed three passes to Pat Bryant for 32 yards, moving the Broncos to the Kansas City 19. Nix finished the drive by finding Evan Engram for a 19-yard touchdown. Wil Lutz made the extra point, tying the game at 7-7.<\/p>\n
