PITTSBURGH \u2014 Calling all artists! The City of Pittsburgh is seeking original posters that celebrate local culture and heritage.<\/p>\n
Open to Pittsburgh residents of all ages, the Pittsburgh America 250 City Art Poster Project recognizes the city\u2019s unique place in American history.<\/p>\n
\u201cPittsburgh has always been a city of makers, artists, builders, and people willing to imagine what comes next,\u201d said Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O\u2019Connor said. \u201cAs we continue to celebrate 250 years of our nation, we want Pittsburgh\u2019s artists to help tell our part of that story \u2014 where we\u2019ve been, who we are today, and what we hope to become.\u201d <\/p>\n
Artists are encouraged to explore Pittsburgh\u2019s people, landscape, industry or other aspects in their poster, reflecting on the question: \u201cWhat does Pittsburgh contribute to the American story \u2014 and what do you hope Pittsburgh will become over the next 250 years?\u201d<\/p>\n
The grand prize is $5,000 and official designation as Pittsburgh\u2019s America 250 City Art Poster. Five other finalists will get $1,000 each. The city will publicly recognize the top six.<\/p>\n
Groups and organizations located in the city can also submit posters, which can be collaborative. Artwork must be created by humans, and AI-generated work is prohibited. <\/p>\n
The submission period runs until Oct. 14 at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
