Following the first day of training camp at\u00a0Baptist\u00a0Health\u00a0IcePlex\u00a0on\u00a0Thursday,\u00a0Florida Panthers\u00a0coach\u00a0Paul Maurice provided\u00a0updates\u00a0on Brad Marchand and Jonah Gadjovich.\u00a0<\/p>\n
For\u00a0Marchand,\u00a0who\u00a0dealt\u00a0with a\u00a0lingering injury last season\u00a0and\u00a0underwent\u00a0surgery\u00a0in\u00a0August,\u00a0the 38-year-old will be\u00a0unavailable\u00a0while\u00a0rehabbing\u00a0through\u00a0all\u00a0of October.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s going to take the month of October for rehab,\u201d Maurice said\u00a0of the\u00a0veteran\u00a0winger\u2019s\u00a0status.\u00a0\u201cThat\u00a0may be\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0ready to play\u00a0right at the end of it, and\u00a0maybe he\u00a0needs\u00a0a short period\u00a0of time, assuming no setbacks.\u00a0We\u2019re\u00a0planning on\u00a0rehabbing for\u00a0October.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
In 52 games last season, Marchand racked up 54 points (27G, 27A)\u00a0and ranked second on the team in both goals and\u00a0assists\u00a0at the time of his\u00a0last game.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Reaching 1,000 points last season,\u00a0the\u00a0likely\u00a0future Hall of\u00a0Famer has\u00a0recorded 1,034 points and 1,153 penalty minutes in 1,152\u00a0career\u00a0NHL\u00a0games.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Unfortunately,\u00a0Gadjovich\u2019s\u00a0future\u00a0is less\u00a0clear than\u00a0Marchand\u2019s\u00a0at the\u00a0moment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Maurice announced that the\u00a0powerful fourth liner\u00a0will be out indefinitely.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re still looking at options and searching for some answers\u00a0on\u00a0this,\u201d\u00a0he\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Injured against the Vegas Golden Knights on Oct. 25,\u00a0Gadjovich\u00a0underwent surgery\u00a0in\u00a0November of\u00a02025 and\u00a0was unable to\u00a0return before the end of last season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In 10 games prior to his injury\u00a0last year,\u00a0the\u00a027-year-old recorded\u00a0three assists and 30 hits.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI have nothing but respect for the man,\u201d Maurice said of Gadjovich. \u201cHe\u2019s\u00a0in the gym.
