A massive sinkhole outside Nicolas Cage\u2019s lavish Malibu mansion continues to grow<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jaw dropping new aerial photos obtained by The Post reveal a massive crater yawning open alongside the $10.5 million beachfront property<\/a>, with shattered concrete, torn up earth and heavy equipment surrounding the gaping void.<\/p>\n

The images offer a stomach churning look at the damage<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A huge black pit has opened directly beside the mansion as crews work from a boom lift over the wreckage.<\/p>\n

Just beyond the homes, waves continue to slam into the coastline.<\/p>\n

It is a nightmare view for residents of the gated Sea Level Drive community, where the collapse swallowed the soil beneath the private road and wiped out the only route in and out.<\/p>\n

The sinkhole opened around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, and measures a whopping 25 to 30 feet deep and 30 by 60 feet wide.<\/p>\n

And Cage\u2019s home is reportedly right in the middle of the mess.<\/p>\n

Malibu officials declared a local emergency at 6 p.m. that day, red tagging seven homes over structural danger and another 24 because emergency vehicles could not safely reach them.<\/p>\n

The collapse also triggered a gas leak, forcing crews to shut off both gas and water lines.<\/p>\n

The collapse is attributed to severe coastal erosion, with powerful surf, high tides and waves brought to the coast by Hurricane Marie washing away the soil underneath the road. Clint Brewer Photography \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n

Adding another ominous wrinkle, emergency crews had responded to a gas main break at the exact same property just two days earlier on Sept. 6.<\/p>\n

The collapse is attributed to severe coastal erosion, with powerful surf, high tides and waves brought to the coast by Hurricane Marie washing away the soil underneath the road.<\/p>\n

Now geologists and engineers are racing to shore up the area, protect home foundations and build temporary coastal erosion protection before eventually filling the crater and rebuilding the road.<\/p>\n

Cage is known for films including \u201cFace\/Off,\u201d \u201cCon Air\u201d and \u201cGone in 60 Seconds.\u201d<\/p>\n
