Royce White has hit back at Montrezl Harrell after the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year criticised White\u2019s recent WNBA campaign and described the publicity stunts as \u201ccorny and lame\u201d.<\/p>\n

White and former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom have both sought entry into the WNBA Draft as part of a campaign centred on transgender participation in women\u2019s sports. White later attended an Indiana Fever game wearing a blonde wig after his draft bid was rejected.<\/p>\n

The move has drawn attention around the league, with Harrell now offering his own response during an interview with Scoop B.<\/p>\n

Harrell, who described himself as an avid WNBA fan, said he did not support White and Freedom using the league to make their political point.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t entertain that, to be honest with you. That stuff is corny and lame. I\u2019m an actual WNBA fan\u2026 For guys like that to use their platform to disrespect it, that\u2019s corny. I\u2019m not a fan of it at all. You don\u2019t gain any cool points off of it. You\u2019re two grown men running into arenas and public spaces making a mockery of yourselves. Who is that helping?\u201d<\/p>\n

Harrell also argued that those seeking to discuss the issue should do so directly rather than through public stunts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know what you\u2019re trying to say about men not playing with women, but just use your words as a grown man. Don\u2019t try to berate women\u2026 I\u2019m not a fan of it and wish it was something they wouldn\u2019t do, because it\u2019s not highlighting the message they claim to have about protecting women\u2019s sports.\u201d<\/p>\n

White subsequently responded to Harrell in a text message, using highly inflammatory language while questioning why Harrell had not previously spoken publicly about the issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is how b****** talk\u2026 \u2018It\u2019s not what you\u2019re saying, it\u2019s how you\u2019re saying it.\u2019 Find a more \u2018politically correct\u2019 way to tell me the truth. I\u2019m fresh out of nice ways to tell d*** ***** common sense. It\u2019s funny saying \u2018use your words\u2019 like this hasn\u2019t already been a discussion for a while. Why hasn\u2019t he ever spoken on it or \u2018used his words\u2019 since he gets it?\u201d<\/p>\n

White has also indicated that his legal team is preparing for a potential legal battle concerning the WNBA\u2019s gender eligibility guidelines.<\/p>\n

The exchange adds another layer to an ongoing debate that has already drawn responses from<\/p>\n

WNBA players and officials, with White continuing to pursue his challenge to the league.<\/p>\n
