Police: Construction worker dies after being hit by vehicle on I-275 eastbound in Springdale<\/p>\n

A construction worker has died after being hit on Interstate 275 eastbound early Friday morning, according to Springdale police.<\/p>\n

The crash led to the interstate being shut down for several hours Friday morning. The roadway has since reopened.<\/p>\n

Police say they responded to the scene, near the 42.6-mile post, just before 4 a.m. Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Officers say a construction worker had been hit by a vehicle while working on the highway. The worker, who was identified by police only as being a man, was taken to Bethesda North Hospital, where he died.<\/p>\n

The crash led to the closure of I-275 eastbound, near the I-75 interchange, for several hours Friday.<\/p>\n

Bridge repair work is planned in the area this week. <\/p>\n

Kathleen Fuller, with the Ohio Department of Transportation, confirmed that a crew member for the contractor doing work in the area was involved in the crash, but she did not have any further information.<\/p>\n

Police say it does not appear that impairment was a factor in the crash.<\/p>\n
