Patrick Reed withdrew because of a reported injury after playing nine holes in Round 2 of the BMW PGA Championship on Friday.

The Race to Dubai leader was seen flexing his left hand on the broadcast as he walked behind a cart near the 10th tee box at Wentworth. He was again shown flexing the same hand as he sat down and was driven off.

The DP World Tour posted on X that Reed’s decision to withdraw stemmed from an injury.

The 2018 Masters winner carded a front-nine 44 and went without a birdie on his second round before the WD.

He started the round with a triple bogey and followed it with a pair of doubles and two more squares.

Commentators wondered if he had hit a root when trying to work himself out of the woods on the par-4 ninth hole.

Images from Reed’s second shot at No. 9 show him dropping his club and grimacing.

Reed, who has played 17 DP World Tour events in 2026, leads Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai after finishing T-2 at last week’s Irish Open.
