BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVC) \u2014 A grand jury indictment our newsroom obtained Friday morning says the victim in an elder neglect case involving the wife of Life Care Centers of America founder Forrest Preston is Preston himself.<\/p>\n

A grand jury in Bradley County, Tennessee, near Chattanooga, indicted Kim Phuong Preston<\/a> this week on two charges: neglect of a vulnerable adult and neglect of an elderly adult.<\/p>\n

The indictment identifies Forrest Preston by name as the victim in both counts.<\/p>\n

The indictment claims that between May 5 and May 6, Kim Preston, while acting as Forrest Preston’s caretaker, knowingly neglected him in a way that could “adversely affect Forrest Preston’s health or welfare.”<\/p>\n

But the indictment didn’t go into specifics about what happened during those 2 days.<\/p>\n

It also does not say that Forrest Preston was actually injured. <\/p>\n

One count identifies Forrest Preston as a vulnerable adult, while the second identifies him as an elderly adult.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time concerns about Forrest Preston’s welfare have surfaced publicly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Forrest’s son, Aubrey Preston, went to court<\/a> seeking an emergency conservatorship over his father and Life Care Centers of America.<\/p>\n

Aubrey and his attorneys argued Forrest was mentally unfit to continue running the company and claimed he was being subjected to elder abuse by his wife. <\/p>\n

They also claimed millions of dollars in real estate and cash had been transferred to her, putting the company at risk.<\/p>\n

A Bradley County judge ultimately granted Aubrey the conservatorship<\/a>, giving him control over Life Care Centers.<\/p>\n

But Forrest Preston’s attorney disputed the family’s characterization of what was happening, saying during the 2024 court fight that, “You could almost argue that this is an attempted hostile takeover by forced emergency appointment.”<\/p>\n

Preston founded Cleveland-based Life Care Centers of America in 1970. The company has grown into one of the country’s largest privately held long-term care providers.<\/p>\n

Kim Preston’s bond was previously set at $20,000. She’s next scheduled to appear in court, for an arraignment, on October 5th.<\/p>\n
