SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — A mountain lion has been captured several hours after being spotted roaming San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood Friday morning, officials confirm.<\/p>\n
The animal was seen near Ulloa Street and 44th Avenue, which is not far from the ocean, around 7:30 a.m. and wildlife and animal control crews were dispatched.<\/p>\n
The mountain lion was tranquilized by San Francisco Animal Care and Control after some tense moments during a standoff with the animal for several hours.<\/p>\n
It was a dramatic scene as crews went to tranquilize the animal, it darted away. Residents and media were all pushed back as the animal briefly stopped at a corner and disappeared into an area of bushes, where another standoff began. About half an hour later, officials had tranquilized the mountain lion.<\/p>\n

The whole situation had neighbors on edge as they were being told to stay in their homes.<\/p>\n
“It was kind of crazy, we heard the police come out, they had all the bullhorns telling everybody, ‘ You need to disperse, get back in your homes,'” resident Shane Jordan said. “Within a few minutes we learned that it was a mountain lion running around the neighborhood and so obviously there was a lot of concern.”<\/p>\n
This is the second mountain lion sighting in San Francisco in two weeks. There were several reports of one<\/a> perched in a tree in the Panhandle on Saturday, September 5. It’s unclear if it’s the same animal.<\/p>\n
