\n\tCate Blanchett<\/a> asked audience members to stop recording her performance in the London play \u201cElectra\/Persona\u201d per a video <\/a>shared on Instagram Friday. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere are few places on this planet where we can simply be together and be present,\u201d the actress said on stage. \u201cI understand you like filming the curtain call, and it is kind of flattering in a way. But for anyone who is filming the show, please don\u2019t, because it spoils it for the next group of people who come in and are present with us. So thank you very much.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBlanchett stars alongside Nina Hoss in the play, which is written and directed by Benedict Andrews and runs at the National Theatre\u2019s Lyttelton Theatre until Oct. 10. The actresses alternate between the roles of Electra\/Elisabeth and Clytemnestra\/Alma each night, depending on a coin toss. \u201cElectra\/Persona\u201d combines Sophocles\u2019 Greek tragedy \u201cElectra\u201d and Ingmar Bergman\u2019s 1996 film \u201cPersona.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBeginning her professional acting career on stage at the Sydney Theatre Company, Blanchett previously revealed she \u201cnever, ever\u201d thought she could work in the film industry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was resigned, happily, to a career in theater. I didn\u2019t think I was that girl,\u201d she said at the 2025 Rotterdam Film Festival. \u201cThere was a sense women had a certain \u2018shelf life\u2019 in the film industry and a certain type of women got to parade on the screen and others didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Oscar-winning actress is set to star alongside Selena Gomez<\/a> and Michael Fassbender in \u201cThe Brutalist\u201d director Brady Corbet\u2019s upcoming film, Variety confirmed earlier this year. Details about the film remain under wraps, but Corbet has teased it will be X-rated and set in the \u201870s.<\/p>\n
