The semifinals are set at the WTA Sao Paulo Open<\/a> and feature a strong Spanish presence, with second seed Paula Badosa and seventh seed Kaitlin Quevedo both advancing on Friday, raising the possibility of an all-Spanish final. Fourth seed Anna Blinkova and Nadia Podoroska will aim to disrupt that possibility. Head-to-head: Blinkova 1-0 Quevedo<\/p>\n

Anna Blinkova played her worst match of the week so far at WTA Sao Paulo in the quaterfinals, but it was still good enough for a straight-sets win over Alina Charaeva. Blinkova\u2019s first-serve percentage was 71%, which helped her save multiple break points during the match. The Russian player hasn\u2019t dropped a set so far and is into her first tour-level semifinal of the season.<\/p>\n

20-year-old Kaitlin Quevedo has been one of the standout performers of the week and is into her first tour-level semifinal by defeating Teodora Kostovic in the quarterfinals. Quevedo has shown an aggressive game this week and will look to take time away from Blinkova. However, Blinkova\u2019s consistency and experience in bigger moments could prove decisive if the match goes deep into the third set.<\/p>\n

Paula Badosa vs Nadia Podoroska<\/p>\n

Head-to-head: Badosa 1-0 Podoroska<\/p>\n

Former world #2 Paula Badosa backed up a three-set struggle against Jazmin Ortenzi in the second round with a straight-sets win over Mary Stoiana to secure her place in the semifinals at the WTA Sao Paolo open. The match was much closer than the scoreline suggests, but Badosa was solid when she needed to be in both serve and return, and that proved to be the difference between the two.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard hasn\u2019t played her best tennis yet this week at WTA Sao Paulo, but she is\u00a0 nowtwo matches away from her first tour-level title since 2024 and looks on track to do it. Nadia Podoroska showed great fight in the quarterfinals and is into her first tour-level semifinal since 2023.<\/p>\n

The Argentine also has real pedigree having previously reached the semifinals at Roland Garros, albeit that was six years ago now. It may be a close contest, but Badosa should be able to rely on the support of the Brazilian crowd when up against Argentinian opposition, and the Spaniard also has that much more power and versatility. Expect Badosa to advance in this match.<\/p>\n
