BUY TICKETS<\/a><\/p>\nThis is the first of\u00a0four\u00a0exhibition games for Anaheim\u00a0with all contests featuring\u00a0either\u00a0the Sharks or Kings as the\u00a0opponent.\u00a0The team will be back at Honda Center on Wednesday before hitting the road for the final two games of the preseason.<\/p>\n
Today’s lineup will include key veterans like Leo Carlsson, Cutter Gauthier, Jackson\u00a0LaCombe and\u00a0Alex Killorn, along with young sensation Beckett Sennecke and 2025 first round pick Roger McQueen. Veteran goalie Laurent Brossoit, signed by the Ducks last July, will start in net with Italian Olympian Damian Clara serving as backup and likely to see action.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The\u00a0Ducks\u00a0opened training camp this week fresh off a playoff season, the group\u2019s first in\u00a0eight years.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Head\u00a0coach Joel Quenneville\u00a0returns\u00a0at the helm for his second season\u00a0with Anaheim, which signed Cutter Gauthier and Leo Carlsson to long-term extensions this summer.<\/p>\n
While the core of the Ducks remains young, as Gauthier noted,\u00a0the group is ready to build on the 25-26 campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe all, as a young group of guys, expect to take the next step in the leadership aspect of things, take control of the locker room and show it on the ice as well,\u201d Gauthier said. \u201cWe\u2019re all excited for the challenge and we just can\u2019t wait to get the season going.\u201d<\/p>\n
That challenge begins tonight\u00a0with the preseason, which will\u00a0help determine\u00a0who\u00a0will round out the roster for the team heading into the regular season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got a lot of young guys vying for spots,\u201d general manager Pat Verbeek said. \u201cAs I said to the players,\u00a0\u2018This is the most excited I’ve ever been to come into a camp.\u2019\u00a0We’re in a phase\u00a0that there’s so much opportunity for all our young players, the ones that we drafted to make an impression on the coaches and management, to vie for spots. And\u00a0so\u00a0we can look at the Ducks having a lot of depth and San Diego being very good as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
As for the\u00a0Sharks,\u00a0Ryan Warsofsky\u00a0begins his third season as the team\u2019s head coach\u00a0and\u00a0this past Thursday,\u00a0signed a contract extension linking him to San Jose for the foreseeable\u00a0future.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The team inked\u00a0former first-overall pick\u00a0Macklin Celebrini to a five-year contract extension over the summer\u00a0and also\u00a0added former Duck Jacob Trouba,\u00a0in\u00a0free agency.<\/p>\n
