CRIDERSVILLE, Ohio (WLIO) \u2014 Two people were seriously injured by a car while they were in the road looking for a deer they hit with their vehicle.<\/p>\n
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ryan Twining, 23, and Kelsey Woten, 22, both from Cridersville, were taken to Mercy Health \u2013 St. Rita\u2019s following an incident that happened on National Road just east of SR 501 just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n
Troopers say Rob Roby, 58, of Cridersville, was traveling east on National Road when he came over a hill and struck Twining and Woten, who were walking in the eastbound roadway looking for a deer that Twining hit with his vehicle earlier.<\/p>\n
Twining sustained life-threatening injuries, while Woten sustained serious injuries.<\/p>\n
The crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

Pedestrians Struck on National Road in Auglaize County<\/p>\n
Wapakoneta – The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash involving a vehicle and two pedestrians that occurred on September 19, 2026, at approximately 11:25 p.m. in Auglaize County. The crash happened on National Road, east of State Route 501.<\/p>\n
Preliminary investigation shows that a 2005 Chrysler 300, driven by Rob Roby, 58, of Cridersville, was traveling east on National Road. As Mr. Roby crested a hill, his vehicle struck Ryan Twining, 23, of Cridersville, and Kelsey Woten, 22, of Cridersville, who were walking eastbound on the roadway. After impact, the Chrysler came to a controlled stop on the road, while Twining and Woten carne to rest in a ditch on the south side of National Road.<\/p>\n
Twining sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Rita\u2019s Hospital in Lima by Cridersville EMS. Woten suffered serious injuries and was also transported to St. Rita\u2019s Hospital by Cridersville EMS. Roby was not injured.<\/p>\n
Further investigation revealed that Twining had previously been involved in a vehicle versus-deer crash and had exited his car to locate the deer. Woten was assisting him at the time of the crash.<\/p>\n
Responding agencies included the Auglaize County Sheriff\u2019s Office and the Cridersville Fire Department\/EMS.<\/p>\n
Alcohol or drug impairment is not suspected. The crash remains under investigation by the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n
