Kennedy International and LaGuardia airports are delayed due to an equipment outage, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fly.faa.gov\/adv\/adv_otherdis?advn=50&amp;adv_date=09212026&amp;facId=EWR&amp;title=ATCSCC%20ADVZY%20050%20EWR\/ZNY%2009\/21\/2026%20CDM%20GROUND%20STOP&amp;titleDate=09\/21\/2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Federal Aviation Administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A ground stop was ordered around 10 a.m. Monday to Newark and has been extended multiple times to at least 2:45 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A stop was ordered at 12:38 p.m. for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fly.faa.gov\/adv\/adv_otherdis?advn=102&amp;adv_date=09212026&amp;facId=JFK&amp;title=ATCSCC%20ADVZY%20102%20JFK\/ZNY%2009\/21\/2026%20CDM%20GROUND%20STOP&amp;titleDate=09\/21\/2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">JFK<\/a> and at 12:43 p.m. for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fly.faa.gov\/adv\/adv_otherdis?advn=104&amp;adv_date=09212026&amp;facId=LGA&amp;title=ATCSCC%20ADVZY%20104%20LGA\/ZNY%2009\/21\/2026%20CDM%20GROUND%20STOP&amp;titleDate=09\/21\/2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">LaGuardia<\/a>. Those are in effect until 2 p.m., according to the FAA<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The FAA is pausing flights into Philadelphia International, Teterboro and Newark Liberty International airports due to issues with some frequencies at Philadelphia TRACON,&#8221; a spokesperson said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>TRACON stands for Terminal Radar Approach Control. It is an air traffic control facility that uses radar and radios to guide planes approaching and departing from airports.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said the primary circuit in Philadelphia TRACON failed. The backup line also had a break, he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That fiber break is probably 13 hours to repair. It&#8217;s massive, I&#8217;m told,&#8221; he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bedford said the cut is somewhere between New Brunswick and Newark.
