\n\tSylvester Stallone<\/a> has revealed that he didn\u2019t necessarily sign up to be one of President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s special Hollywood ambassadors.<\/p>\n

\n\tLast year, Trump named Stallone<\/a>, along with Jon Voight<\/a> and Mel Gibson, as \u201cSpecial Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK\u2014BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!\u201d The president said the three veteran actors \u201cwill be my eyes and ears\u201d in Hollywood and that he \u201cwill get done what they suggest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, during a recent interview with The Sunday Times<\/a>, Stallone revealed that he learned about his presidential appointment while watching television.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWell, it just happened,\u201d the Rocky star said. \u201cI was watching TV one night and they go, \u2018So Stallone and Mel Gibson and Jon Voight will be\u2009\u2026\u2019 And I went, \u2018What?\u2019 I said, \u2018Excuse me? Really?\u2019 Because if they had asked me in the beginning, I would have said, \u2018This is not possible.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStallone admitted he had reservations about the position \u201cbecause Hollywood, I guess it\u2019s like feudal states. They have their little kingdoms. You don\u2019t go in and tell six studios how to do things. And Mel Gibson and Jon Voight, we\u2019re kind of do-our-own-thing people. No, it won\u2019t work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe also explained this to Trump. \u201cI said thank you and ciao, because it\u2019s impossible,\u201d Stallone added. \u201cHollywood works and it will evolve. It\u2019s corporate and corporate people won\u2019t want to hear me tell them about finance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Stallone has publicly supported Trump, previously introducing the president-elect at a party at Mar-a-Lago<\/a> following his 2024 re-election, he\u2019s also endorsed politicians across the political spectrum throughout his career. The Tulsa King actor has maintained, \u201cI am not a political animal,\u201d and \u201cI\u2019m almost a political atheist.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this month, Voight sat down with The Hollywood Reporter <\/a>to discuss how he\u2019s used his \u201cspecial ambassador\u201d role to lobby for a federal film and television tax credit at the White House.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf we get on an even keel with the rest of the world\u2019s tax benefits, if we get that break, there\u2019s going to be an explosion of energy,\u201d the Oscar winner said of whether Hollywood will see another golden age. \u201cIt will be immediate. As someone mentioned, our business is a shovel-ready business. They will call people tomorrow, people will be getting ready immediately. [Then] it affects the communities they\u2019re working in. Is it going to come back? Yes, I think it\u2019s going to.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tVoight was also asked if he\u2019s spoken to Gibson and Stallone about the federal tax credit and if they\u2019ll be getting involved. \u201cThey\u2019ve been very busy, both of those guys actually have been extremely busy,\u201d he said.
