Chaos in its prime(time). YNTV’s new comedy series Breaking News is out now on YouTube!

‘YNTV Breaking News,’ the satirical comedy about a washed-up anchor broadcasting from his closet in lockdown, is out on YouTube. New episodes out weekly.

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, September 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — A washed-up news anchor broadcasting from his walk-in closet. A corporate cover-up. A ratings war against teenagers with better lighting. And a vault of tapes a media empire never wanted anyone to see. YNTV Breaking News — the satirical comedy “leaked” onto YouTube — is now streaming, with a new episode dropping every Wednesday.

Set in the chaotic first months of the 2020 lockdown, the series follows disgraced anchor Michael Richardson and his dysfunctional team as they broadcast “Zoom-style” from their closets — chasing an impossible corporate mandate to become the number-one show on television while losing a ratings war to a rising tide of teenage influencers. It captures the exact moment legacy news collided with the attention economy, and plays it for laughs.

The framing is its own punchline: in the world of the show, mega-corporation Thompson Family Ventures buried the program to dodge a lawsuit — until anonymous hackers dumped the entire series online. What audiences get is the tape that was never supposed to air.

Since its September 2 debut, YNTV Breaking News has been drawing early raves from viewers who lived through the very era it skewers.

Filmed entirely remotely by an international cast and crew working across the UK, Hungary, the United States, France, Canada, Australia, and beyond, YNTV Breaking News is an authentic visual time capsule of the era: low-fi camera angles, domestic chaos, technical meltdowns, and heavy improvisation that keeps the comedy raw.

The choice of subject is deliberate — and handled with care. That period took a real toll on people’s jobs, their milestones, and, for many, the people they loved. The show doesn’t make light of any of that; it trains its satire squarely on the media circus of the era — the frantic, contradictory way the news told the story — never the people who lived through it.

“YNTV Breaking News started with a simple question: what if the most absurd version of the news cycle was the real one?” said creator and executive producer Robert J. Brooks. “So we built a newsroom coming apart on camera — a washed-up anchor losing a ratings war to teenagers, and a corporation that would rather bury the tapes than admit they aired. It’s a roast of the media circus, never the people caught in it, and I think anyone who’s turned on the news in the last few years will laugh a little harder than they expect to.”

For the cast, the production was as surreal as its subject. “During one of the shoots, I actually had COVID, but the show had to go on,” said Rick McMann, who stars as Michael Richardson. “We were all working remotely, so I just toughed it out from home. That was the job.”

New episodes of YNTV Breaking News premiere every Wednesday, free on YouTube, with a vertical micro-series edit for short-form viewers and a full audio companion for podcast listeners.
