GB News<\/a>‘ regular programming was halted for breaking news as it went live to New York, where prime minister Andy Burnham<\/a> and Donald Trump<\/a> were holding their first-ever face-to-face meeting<\/a>. In addition to their 30 minutes together being extended, the two leaders discussed a wide range of concerning topics, including Gaza, the Falklands<\/a>, the Chagos Islands<\/a>, immigration and the Middle East crisis. Although the “special relationship” between the UK and the US appeared to stay intact, with Trump even suggesting Burnham would make a “great prime minister,” not everyone was left impressed.<\/p>\n

During the breaking alert, GB News presenter Bev Turner issued a humiliating blow to the UK leader<\/a>, branding him “predictable” as she reflected on his priorities. She blasted: “My concern with Andy Burnham is he’s gone into office, he said ‘you can count on us to stand up to fairness, you can count on us to fight racism, you can count on us to fight discrimination, you can count on us to bring people together.'”<\/p>\n

Hitting back, the TV host stated: “Well, hang on a minute, Andy Burnham, the British people want to count on you at the moment.<\/p>\n

“You’re not in that room to tell the people from Uganda, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates that they can count on you because right now the British people aren’t sure that they can count on you.”<\/p>\n

Bev urged: “We need to hear a little bit more about what he’s going to do for us.” Issuing her brutal verdict, she added: “I found so much of that horribly predictable, and I was hoping for something else. He was polar opposite to President Trump on everything.”<\/p>\n

Taking to the comments, one furious viewer claimed: “He is not bothered about domestic issues or the British people, Starmer v2.”<\/p>\n

As another questioned: “Wasn’t Starmer more interested in international affairs than what’s going on in Britain?”<\/p>\n

“Burnham doesn’t look comfortable,” noted a third. Meanwhile, a fourth claimed: “Trump knows he’s a fool.”<\/p>\n

The meeting came after Burnham took a critical stance toward the US leader during his time as Manchester Mayor, stating that Trump was unwelcome in Greater Manchester due to his “poisonous” and “divided, dark politics.”<\/p>\n

Then, in 2021, as rioters stormed the US Capitol, the Prime Minister fiercely condemned Trump and famously said that “any UK politician who gave Trump the time of day should be ashamed right now”<\/p>\n

While travelling to New York for their first face-to-face meeting, the UK leader told press: “As I have said, politicians say things throughout their career, but now the important thing is to focus on the moment you are in, and I did say to the president in our first phone call, I said, ‘Mr President, Manchester isn’t some town’, I said, ‘This is Manchester’.<\/p>\n
