Baltimore Orioles first baseman Pete Alonso’s first season with the O’s has earned him a spot in the team’s record books.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Alonso was unanimously selected as the 2026 Most Valuable Oriole.<\/p>\n
Alonso leads the team in multiple categories and has 24 doubles, 40 home runs, 94 runs and 108 RBIs. He has played in 573 consecutive games, the second-longest active streak in Major League Baseball.<\/p>\n
The former Mets player is also the first unanimous winner of the award since Cedric Mullins in 2021. Earlier this month, Alonso had his 300th career home run.<\/p>\n
Alonso is commemorating the historic feat with his foundation as part of the “300 acts of giving campaign.”<\/p>\n
The foundation is covering 300 animal adoption fees at Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter and shelters in New York City.<\/p>\n
The organization is also providing wellness bags for veterans at the Baltimore Station and Fisher House Foundation and serving 300 meals for hospital workers at the University of Maryland Golisano Children’s Hospital.<\/p>\n
