Could Kara Swisher\u2019s exit from CNN be a about a little more than politics?<\/p>\n
The famed tech reporter announced on her podcast Tuesday that \u2014 after news that David Ellison\u2019s Paramount Skydance is expected to absorb CNN<\/a> \u2014 she\u2019s exiting the network<\/a> as soon as possible.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u201c\u2018F\u2013k these guys,\u2019\u201d she said on \u201cThe Pivot,\u201d \u201cI don\u2019t want to work for them.\u201d<\/p>\n But the chatter around the deal is that her ex, Nellie Bowles, may play a part in her rush for the door.<\/p>\n Kara Swisher, seen about on \u201cThe View,\u201d has made it very clear that she is desperate to get out of CNN as soon as possible. ABC via Getty Images<\/p>\n The word at CNN is that Swisher, pictured above, wants to dip before Bari Weiss, the new partner of her girlfriend Nellie Bowles, enters the network amidst the Paramount Warner Bros. merger. CNN<\/p>\n Bowles is now married to Bari Weiss, Ellison\u2019s golden child, who he installed at the helm of CBS News<\/a> when he bought it in 2025, and is widely rumored to be eyeing to run editorial at CNN<\/a> too.<\/p>\n Insiders note that Swisher may not be entirely thrilled by the prospect of working for her beloved ex girlfriend\u2019s new wife. Getty Images for Uber, X and The Free Press<\/p>\n After we emailed Swisher for comment, she posted the email on Threads, and said: \u201c\u2018Here\u2019s my comment: \u201cAs exciting as girl on girl action is for you to gin up, I have been saying for a long time now that I would depart CNN if the deal goes through, due to my lack of confidence in the owners as decent media stewards & not whatever minion they decide to install\u2026 Please try to keep up as hard as that is for you.\u201d<\/p>\n Bowles \u2014 who co-founded the Free Press with Weiss \u2014 worked on Swisher\u2019s \u201cRecode\u201d podcast in the mid-2010s, and the pair dated for several years.<\/p>\n The satirist started dating Weiss in 2018, and they married in a couple of years later.
