\n\tSean Gunn<\/a> has proclaimed himself \u201cretired\u201d from doing the on-set motion capture for the fan-favorite \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy<\/a>\u201d character Rocket Raccoon. The actor explained that he feels he\u2019s aged out of standing in for the Marvel character due to the physical demands of contorting himself into the shape of the small animal on a recent episode of The Brandon Davis Show<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSince I\u2019ve turned 50 a couple of years ago, I am retired from playing Rocket,\u201d he said. \u201cNot that they\u2019ve called. But if they did, I don\u2019t think that I could do the motion reference anymore for Rocket. I think I\u2019m too old.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued: \u201cEveryone thinks it\u2019s my knees, but it\u2019s really my feet and my ankles. I\u2019m in a catcher\u2019s crouch, and I\u2019m pivoting a lot on my points of contact with the ground. I\u2019m doing a lot of pivoting in my ankles and feet. And over the years, I think it had a little bit of an effect on my physiology.\u201d He also noted that it \u201churts after a while.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Bradley Cooper famously voiced the character, it was Gunn who performed the aforementioned on-set motion capture for the animated raccoon. Gunn did this for the character in all three of the \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy\u201d movies, the first of which premiered in 2014. The sequel, \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,\u201d followed in 2017 and \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3\u201d premiered in 2023.<\/p>\n
