They released the following statement:<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jim Copenhaver, who was gravely wounded in the horrific shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>Jim endured unimaginable hardship with strength and perseverance.<\/p>\n<p>We join his family and loved ones in mourning his loss and praying for them\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wmAMjp2lAz\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/wmAMjp2lAz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 House Republicans (@HouseGOP) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HouseGOP\/status\/2103160347347607587?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">September 24, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Copenhaver was one of two people injured during the shooting. David Dutch, 57, a Marine veteran from New Kensington, was shot once. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpxi.com\/news\/local\/friend-so-many-family-corey-comperatore-killed-butler-trump-rally-releases-statement\/S53B5VBK2JDTFKHVVFQRMY44LA\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Corey Comperatore<\/a>, 50, a former fire chief, was killed in the assassination attempt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">In June of this year, Copenhaver and Dutch sued the United States. An attorney representing both men said a \u201ccascade\u201d of failures by the Secret Service led to their injuries<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Copenhaver\u2019s cause of death has not yet been released. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">This is a developing story.
