The loss to the Minnesota Lynx was practically sealed from the opening minutes, but the biggest concern for the Indiana Fever was not the scoreboard—it was the physical condition of their roster heading into the start of the postseason.

With the game already an uphill battle and Caitlin Clark trying to keep the team’s offense afloat, the only priority for Indiana fans was to get through the night without setbacks and arrive in the best possible shape for their debut next Sunday. Instead, the night turned into a nightmare.

Caitlin Clark makes history with a special gift for lucky fans who received her first signature shoes

The first alarm sounded with Aliyah Boston, Clark’s main partner in the paint. The center left the floor with just under three minutes remaining in the first half, did not return after halftime, and was later ruled out for the rest of the game with a lower-leg issue. Although Boston had already dealt with similar problems during the year, the Fever preferred not to risk her with the playoffs in mind, even as her actual availability remains unclear.

But the definitive blow to the team’s morale came with Ty Harris. In the third quarter, the point guard went down hard after suffering a severe-looking injury to her left leg while attempting a layup.

Harris remained on the floor for several minutes in obvious pain before being helped off to the locker room—a gut-wrenching image that set off every alarm on the Indiana bench just days before the most important stretch of the season.

How do these injuries affect Caitlin Clark’s playoff scheme?

Ty Harris’s absence drastically alters the coaching staff’s plans. Harris had established herself as a fundamental piece in Indiana’s rotation, serving as the primary backup ball-handler behind Caitlin Clark. Averaging 13.7 minutes per game, her presence allowed Clark to take key rest periods without the team’s playmaking and offensive rhythm collapsing.

If her absence is confirmed for the postseason, the minutes and responsibility on Clark’s shoulders will increase significantly, forcing her to shoulder an even heavier workload in the most demanding stage of the year.

This situation would open the door for rookie Raven Johnson, who began the season with rotation minutes before seeing her role diminish. The good news for Indiana is that Johnson knows what it means to play under maximum pressure, having starred for four years under Dawn Staley at South Carolina.

Even so, losing Harris and having Boston’s status in doubt represents a major setback for a Fever team that had managed to stay relatively healthy for most of the regular season. Indiana will await the final medical reports hoping to get both key pieces back, knowing that their chances of making a deep playoff run will depend largely on the supporting cast that can back up Caitlin Clark on the floor.

The loss to the Minnesota Lynx was practically sealed from the opening minutes, but the biggest concern for…

[73
99,434
post-859811","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-wnba","tag-sports","tag-wnba
["GET
